There are two separate sections within the STSA Operations. The first is the People of the River Referrals Office, which is the technical body that facilitates consultation under the STSA Strategic Engagement Agreement. The second is the Collaborative Stewardship Forum which is one of the groups formed out of the Collaborative Stewardship Framework between the STSA, the associated Stó:lō First Nations and the Province of British Columbia.
First launched in 2012, The People of the River Referrals Office (PRRO) facilitates meaningful engagement and consultation on behalf of the S’ólh Téméxw Stewardship Alliance (STSA). PRRO receives, analyzes, reports on, and tracks referral submissions from private industry, crown corporations, civic governments, regional districts, the Province of British Columbia, the Government of Canada, and any other parties interested in development within S’ólh Téméxw.
The Collaborative Stewardship Framework is allowing the foundation of a new relationship between 15 Stó:lō First Nations and the Province of British Columbia to be built. Together, we are co-developing mechanisms for more effective and collaborative government-to-government shared decision-making and environmental stewardship processes, working to safeguard the health and wellbeing of our communities now and for future generations.
